Oh goodness I need to get something off my chest – I love Japanese junk food. I do not know if I feel better but I have to say Pocky is the best treat. Now that I am not all about sugar I tend to think a lot of dessert items are far to sweet but Pocky Matcha nails the sweet but not to sweet dessert item. It’s crunchy, creamy, sweet, but the umami notes are fantastic and I think that even if you think green tea is foul you’ll love this treat. It’s sweet and crunchy and you gets loads in a serving. One pack is an entire serving but I tend to split it into at least two servings. It’s less than 200 calories for a whole box so if you are looking for a great sweet volume snack Pocky is it. Pocky can be found in most Asian sections of American supermarkets and if Matcha is not your thing fear not – strawberry or even chocolate is available. I found the Matcha at our local Safeway along with chocolate and strawberry flavors. Pick up a box and try it! You will not be disappointed! It’s great for a couple sticks as a lunch treat that does not blow your calorie budget as well.
